I asked for your best first lines to short stories... here are my favourites which are awesome. The plan is that I pick one and finish the story off... by today. Due to unforeseen circumstances (employment, sleep deprivation, you lot not choosing a clear winner), I'm going to write it over the weekend. Promise it will be worth waiting for (I'm lying). In the meantime, look at these beauties... main observation: a lot of death.
@yowesty Carefully, so no one would see me, I climbed over the wall into the prison
@somemoremuey Matt's worst nightmare couldn't have foretold the disaster wrought by his inaction over the leaking ballcocks
@Lauren2Herself There was no possibility of taking a walk that day.
@IMJoJo1974 That really made my eyes water.
@BramblyMouse "Some people," Albert thought, as he administered a lethal dose of morphine to the wide-eyed man on the bed, "Are so ungrateful."
@Mullies People were always surprised to learn that before she'd turned to accounting and bought a cat, Barbara had been a Vegas showgirl.
@sailing1970 The boxer slumped in his corner, desolate, as he realised that what he had just done came at a price.
@theagentsdiary As his finger slipped from the ledge and the ground beckoned, he resolved to return the Spiderman suit if he survived.
@ChiaraAtik Forty three minutes into the vacation, as a flight attendant dully explained oxygen masks, Clara realised she had made a terrible mistake.’
@JaneCameBy It is usually the strongest swimmers who drown.
@CaptGreybeard The monitor flatlined, there was no trace of a pulse, but as the bed was wheeled away a faint breath stirred from under the sheet
@dromomaniac Death got into my car six miles south of Santo Muerto. He said he'd had to get out of town fast.
Thanks for your share! very impressive!
